I usually play this in a pub but there isn't anything to say it can't be played
anywhere.


Gather a group of people and a few beers together. You'll also need a packet of
peanuts. I prefer using ordinary eta salted peanuts but you may prefer
something more exotic like cachews.

Each person should full a glass and select their peanut. On the count of 3,
each person drops their peanut into their beer. The peanut must be dropped and
not forced into the beer. Also the height the peanut is dropped from, must not
be more than about 2 inches. The person whose peanut rises to the top of the
glass last is the looser and must consume their beverage and refill.

When playing this game people can get very attached to their peanuts and
"peanut theft" is not unknown. When playing with different brands of beer
arguments will break out over which beer has a higher specific gravity, whose
been "doctoring" peanuts etc. This is to be encouraged.

Hint: Selecting a peanut that has a crack in it will often help you win races
since, when dropped, the crack stays full of air and thus the peanut rises
rapidly.

This game doesn't have to be played with beer. However playing with Jim Beam is
not to be advised.
